Fish Oil as Omega 3 Supplement
Best for Managing Depression
Book by Dr Andrew Stoll

Fish oil is the best form of an Omega 3 supplement when one is managing depression according to Dr Andrew Stoll, Director of the Psychopharmacology Research Laboratory at Harvard's McLean Hospital, and author of the book "The Omega-3 Connection."

This is one of the only supplements that actually was brought up by my medical and psychiatric doctors with any regularity, as a way to fight the depression parts of my bipolar disorder.

Andrew Stoll M.D., points out that there are many great sources of omega-3s but only fish oil (and now krill oil, I believe) has the subcomponents present that affect our mood for the better.

The doctor outlines a handful of what he feels to be reputable companies making an omega 3 supplement but he rates one high above all the others: Omegabrite.

Omegabrite was founded by Dr. Carol Locke, another incredibly accomplished individual who does all she can for the betterment of world health. I am doing her a disservice with that statement.

Dr. Locke was trained at Harvard. Her credentials are listed on the company website. I was fortunate enough to speak with her on the phone for a few hours, a couple years back. Her passion and commitment to stopping depression and more, is on a scale few can match. I honestly don't know how one person can accomplish as much as she has, but having been recognized by many austere organizations, her work is beyond reproach.

"The Omega-3 Connection" goes into great detail regarding the critical aspects of why fish oil does what it does, so well. Flax oil is highly beneficial to physical health but not mental health, beyond the connection of healthy body - healthy mind. Animal omegas directly impact the brain's health. It turns out that two subcomponents exist in animal omegas that are not found in plant-based omegas. They are EPA and DHA.

EPA is the more effective of the two in managing depression but it is more expensive to produce. It also gets used up faster and is stored for shorter times in the body. Takeaway? We need more of it than DHA.

DHA is very beneficial and easier to produce, plus our body hangs on to it and uses less of it, so manufacturers tend to use it more in their products. No harm done, but not the biggest bang for your buck.

Beyond mental illness issues, fish oil, simply and literally, belongs in your diet! Our modern ways of eating have phased it right out of our lives. It is an essential fatty acid. We MUST have it or we die. The body cannot produce all it needs so a good omega 3 supplement is in order for overall great heath.

Our modern diet is also heavily weighted in omega-6s, which are inflammatory. They are useful and beneficial themselves, until too many are present. Then they need to be balanced. Omega-3s counteract that. But we barely eat any. We are constantly inflamed within, due to this out of balance menu so many of us prefer.

There is much more at stake here than just your sanity if you fall behind in your internal stocks of these nutrients.

So do yourself a great big favor and learn why Dr Andrew Stoll says, no matter what, you should have this supplement in your life.
