Is there such a thing as a depression test or bipolar disorder online test?

You very much can take a depression test or bipolar disorder test online! This was news to me as I found out about them long after I'd become well. I can only imagine the trouble such tests may have saved me had I known of them when my troubles with bipolar first began.

My friends at Medical Outcome Systems based in Jacksonville, Florida have devised a depression test that also uncovers the potential presence of bipolar disorder, addictions, and other mood disorders. They help you get closer to understanding why you feel the things you feel.

This screening was created by David V. Sheehan, M.D., M.B.A., Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Psychiatric Research, University of South Florida College of Medicine, and Yves Lecrubier, M.D. L'Hôpital de la Salpêtrière (National Institute for Health and Medical Research) in Paris, France.

The tests are not designed to provide a dead-on diagnosis or even suggest a course of treatment. They simply help clarify what all the feelings you have might mean. They provide a focused starting point with which to begin a discussion with your doctor or therapist or whomever you choose to see about managing your mind.

Prior to my diagnosis of classic bipolar, I was feeling highly stressed. My anger was coming faster over smaller and smaller infractions. The extent of pain and damage I wished to unleash on the causes of my anger was becoming disproportionately large in comparison to the actual problem. I wanted to destroy whatever irked me, plain and simple. And even while feeling this rage, I knew it to be wrong somehow. I knew I was overreacting but becoming powerless to control it.

Luckily for me, my physician picked up on this growing problem of mine and deduced that the malfunction was in my mind, not my body.

(He was half right, but I'm jumping ahead of myself.)

If I'd known of a good bipolar disorder online test I'd have wanted to take advantage of it. And many months later, when more and more symptoms began arriving, I'd have loved to have taken a depression test to see what was going on in my mind, rather than blindly experiencing it with no idea of what to expect next.

Being the self starting type, I'd have eagerly used the Internet to privately see what might be wrong with my head. The Web was new when I first became sick. Based on how I use it now, I might have discovered the root of my problems sooner and begun getting help a lot faster. This would have been a blessing to me, my family, my friends and all who ultimately had to deal with me as my health degraded.

Is your life falling apart? Are you aware that you're reacting far too strongly to things that don't require such a response? Is your thinking becoming muddled or too hard to even sort out?

THANKS, and ...  starstarstarstarstar
The Dolphin EDC test is TOO LONG and appeared to loop questions, so I abandoned it.

I applaud your efforts to make a difference by sharing your experience ...
