Bipolar Disorder Symptoms Attack by the Dozens

The number of bipolar disorder symptoms a victim fights daily are a testament to that person's ability to survive. When I was actively sick I used to joke that "one has to be in perfect health to handle an illness this severe!" Or I'd say, "Not just anybody can manage this disease. It takes guts!"

My humor was always dark in those days, if I felt humorous at all. Everything about me was darkness. If you are regularly battling with your illness then you already understand all too well, the pain of which I speak. If you are a supporter of a sick person then have a look at what your loved one or friend may be fighting on some level at all times:

This is a partial list of what bipolar causes

  • Fear, anxiety, terror, and panic that arrives often with no notice

  • Illogical anger, hatred, and aggression towards authority figures

  • Dissociation (life feels two-dimensional, unreal)

  • Mood swings from mania to depression

  • Inability to stay employed

  • Failed relationships in all areas

  • Euphoria and grandiosity, causing bad judgment and risk-taking behavior

  • Breathtaking guilt and shame

  • Isolating and reclusive behavior

  • Apathy and despair by the truckloads

  • Chest pains, shortness of breath, numb limbs, hyperventilation

  • Insomnia, racing thoughts, psychosis, self-injury

  • Weight gain, eating disorders, self-image distortions

  • And the list goes on...

If you're a supporter, just try and imagine a handful, or MANY of these bipolar disorder symptoms hitting you at once. Imagine! They are awful in their overwhelming capacity to cause pain. But you have options. You can help your loved one. If you're the unwell person, you have ways to fight back.

Please continue researching this site to learn of the many ways to regain control from bipolar. Some have great luck with the healthcare system and I will share information about that. I was not so fortunate and had to develop my own way out, completely at odds with the system, yet it worked. I will definitely share that information here, as well.
